Hi! My name is Brendan Owers and I am a web designer & developer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I built this portfolio using Adobe Photoshop, Notepad++ and the latest versions of jQuery and PHP.
All XHTML & CSS I code is to the latest web standards (Strict 1.0). I enjoy creating clean, user friendly websites that are accessible to all users as well as being easy on the eye, whatever your choice of browser. Freelance painter and decorator Jo Petley came to me with a website that was built only a year or so ago. With emerging standards and technologies the site wasn't performing. Developed using tabular design restricted the site and so the project brief was to re code the site, using the latest web standards, whilst keeping the design exact to the previous version.
This new website has all the hallmarks from the previous design; though now includes a content management system allowing the site to be used as a way of interacting with both current and prospective parents.
As well as having a CMS controlling the site, it now has the added benefit of an intuitive navigation system allowing users to find the information they need, fast.
Successful Mums came to me wanting a complete re-build of their site that was previously built on a free online web site creator. What was needed was a new site that could be designed and aimed at its intended audience.
The site was designed to look clean and professional whilst making it easy for its users to obtain information. The site was built towards XHTML and CSS standards and includes a PHP contact form.
iCasino is the web application that I created as part of this years graded unit. Its backend development includes a PHP login and registration system as well a full admin CMS sytem.
Registered users have the opportunity to play PHP games whilst logged in and all users can view the video tutorials that were created for the Audio and Visual unit.
